Ron Gray comes from a musical family and began to show an interest in digital music and analog synthesizers at a young age. This interest was stimulated by bands like Depeche Mode (Construction Time Again) and Kraftwerk (Autobahn). “I will not soon forget my first concert of Depeche Mode, how all those digitized sounds come to a sound that takes you along and releases emotions”.
Years later I came into contact with the Trance parties and felt that every electronic beat could unleash. The total experience of music, light, sound and atmosphere and especially seeing the audience enjoy it was an eye opener, then the switch was made for me, I want to convey my passion for music to the audience with my musical knowledge. In 2016, together with an organizer, I worked as a VJ on the Trance Cafe in Arnhem to enhance the experience of the music. This was a platform to give budding DJs a chance to play in front of a larger audience. From this platform a number of DJs have built a good reputation in the trance Scene.
During the years in the trance scene, I came into contact with techno where Thomas Schumacher turned the audience upside down in a club. From that moment on I was hooked on techno because of the constant rhythm, the structure and the unique atmosphere during the events and one thing was certain, I also want to be able to create this. To learn the basics I took techno DJ lessons at the DJ school in Amsterdam with Justin Timmers. This was also an eye opener, you learn to analyze the music well, everything by hearing and feeling. Outside of music you will gain insights into a number of important aspects that ensure that you create your own authentic identity as a DJ.
With my sets I especially want to take people along in a flow, where they are taken from start to finish in a rhythm that you cannot dwell on and want to continue to listen curiously and release emotions. I am curious about different music styles, not only techno, but also trance and psy-trance. You can also hear these influences in my sets, as long as it is rhythmic and compelling. I let myself be inspired by DJs like Thomas Schumacher with his dry Berlin beats, Amilie Lens by the energy in the sets and Sven Vath.
Currently I'm working on creating my own sound, by working a lot with samples and loops in the tracks to build up the energy in the set and hope to be able to play this sound in smaller clubs. My ultimate wish is to organize a party for a slightly older (35+) audience and to create a total experience from reception until they go home with a wow feeling and talk about it.
